The Great Divide

The separation between those on the left and those on the right seems to stem from the fact that neither side knows what the other side really believes. Neither side uses facts to back up what they are saying and is too lazy in most cases to do any research to find the facts.

We are fed crap all day, every day, and that crap is rehashed over and over again without any merit.

Both sides forget that just because you say it, that doesn’t make it true. And just because your message is louder (yelling), does not make you right. It just shuts the other side down and nothing will get resolved.

Further, remember that the issues we face (both sides) are real and have real consequences for our family, friends, and neighbors. We are all in this together whether you like that fact or not.

While debating a certain topic, remember the ultimate goal is to find common ground and solve the problem in the best way possible for all.

Here are a few tips when you get into a debate with others regarding just about anything, especially politics.

  • Admit when you are wrong.
  • When you are right, don’t boast or shame others.
  • Belittling others does not help your cause.
  • Try to discuss the issues with facts and not feelings.
  • Don’t be afraid of the truth, face it.
